The Bookshelf - momofuku milk bar

What good are our plant-based plates and bowls if we’re not filling them with great food? To help out, each month we’ll be asking some friends and Zungleboo fans what their favorite cookbook is and why.

To start, we talked with California-based Mallory Bryce, better known to her online fans as @sugarandbryce on Instagram. Mallory has some great food chops which are showcased on her own feed as well as in the work she does for @tastemade.

Mallory also happens to be a fan of Zungleboo and our sustainable Sora bowls have even made a cameo in her feed.  When we asked her about her favorite cookbook, she didn’t hesitate – she came right back with Momofuku Milk Bar: A Cookbook.

When we asked Mallory why she picked Momofuku Milk Bar: A Cookbook, she fessed up to an insatiable sweet tooth (we don’t judge!) but then went on to say that she is a big fan of Milk Bar founder and owner, Christina Tosi. She explained that Tosi is “such an inspiration, from her background story of building the Milk Bar empire, to her impact changing the food & dessert industry.”

While Mallory was hard-pressed to pick one favorite recipe from the book, she did highlight the Milk Bar Pie that the bakery is famous for as well as Christina’s signature layer cakes without frosting on the sides to let the cake layers take center stage (or plate as the case may be!)

Next month we’ll feature another “friend of Zungleboo” with a cookbook recommendation.

Stay tuned!
